Fees and Expenses

We charge for all research, reporting and consultation time on an hourly basis.  Incidental expenses incurred in the course of your research are also reimbursable and are added to the cost of the project.  Initial consultation is free.  We welcome both large and small projects.

• Hourly rate - $35 (includes research and reporting time)
• Minimum charge - minimum 5-hour time block.  $175 required as a retainer to begin work (equivalent to 5 hr. time plus minimal expenses).  Full amount is applied to hourly charges and expenses.  Remainder will be reimbursed.
• Reimbursable expenses - includes incidental costs for photocopies, record fees, postage, microfilm rental, entrance fees (where required), parking, fares, long distance phone calls, etc.
• Travel expenses - mileage at the current rate authorized by the I.R.S.  Local travel time not billed.

Payment Options

RootsTracker Research Services accepts checks drawn on U.S. banks and USPS Money Orders.  Invoices are due upon receipt.

Minimum Research Order / Retainer Equivalent to 5 research hours and minimum expenses. $175.00

Each Additional Hour (After payment of initial retainer.) $35.00

Reduced Hourly Rates for Larger Packages (When contracted in blocks or 24 hours or more.) $30.00/hour on research projects of more than 24 hours when contracted at one time.
